Watch as the 2nd designed & produced Storm Shelter door by Granger Industries, Inc. successfully completes the FEMA 320 debris impact testing at the University of Texas Tech Wind Science Labs! This door has since been re-designed, re-innovated and re-tested at Texas Tech Wind Science & Engineering Research Center. All orders now come standard with the multi-layer composite storm shelter door.
After successfully designing & producing the first (2) Aluminum doors to ever exceed FEMA 320 standards for underground shelters, Granger Plastics opted to design & test a multi-layer composite door. The clip below is from the beginning stages of development as Granger repeated a number of destructive tests to simulate projectiles and tornado debris, as reconstructed inside of a testing center, such as Texas Tech University's Wind Science Engineering Center. Watch the clips below as Granger takes a heavily weighted 2 x 4 and drops it from tall heights against single layer components.
The images and the reports below are the results of the Texas Tech Wind Secience & Engineering Research Center Debris Impact Facility's testing on the Granger ISS Storm Shelter door. The underground shelter door meets or exceeds FEMA 320 and ICC-500 Shelter Standards. View the reports and images for more details.
